Also known as Care & Repair agencies, are local non-profit organisations set up to help older people think about, plan, finance and organise work on their homes. These services tackle smaller repair jobs, including installing safety & security devices. They are provided by many local Age UKs as well as other organisations. Daily help, including personal care, is available on site and one or more meals are available daily in a dining room or restaurant.
We have forty two beds, the majority of which are single rooms, many with en-suite toilet facilities. Each room is fully furnished, however you are free to bring small items of furniture, as well as your own personal items to add to your room. Many of the nursing and care staff have been here for a considerable number of years. We work as a team ensuring everyone receives the care they need. Gresham Care Home offers Dementia and Older People (65+) care.

There was a high ratio of staff to people living in the home as many people were living with complex health conditions which meant that two staff members were often required to support people. Additional facilities are also common – for example hairdressing salons, hobby rooms and gyms. Organised activities will focus on helping residents maintain their health and wellbeing. The service was well led and held in high regard by people living in the home, their relatives, the staff and health professionals. However, quality assurance systems needed a review to ensure that they were fit for purpose and would identify any concerns if they were to arise. The staff were attentive, caring and treated people with respect and kindness. When appropriate the service involved people’s relatives in helping to determine the care people needed and how the person would wish to be supported.
We observed staff during their day to day duties and saw that they were polite and kind to people they were helping. Gresham Care Home is a nursing home providing accommodation and treatment for a maximum of 31 people.
